“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” – Buddha
Welcome! This the place where I post inspirational messages for the practice of yoga and Thai Massage. Here is some good information for the practice of yoga asana (postures) from the teachings of Swami Kripalu and other sources that I love; followed by a brief commentary by Anthony Conard (Dharmadas)
Advice from Swami Kripalvanandaji i,e, Kripalu a.k.a. Bapuji:
“The body is stimulated by proper exercise, which both strengthens and relaxes. We all must travel a long distance in this physical body. If we do not care for it,how can we reach our goal?”
So our primarily responsibility is to care for the body. It is the most valuable thing we have. It is not easy to get another one!
“Asanas performed with a deep sensitivity to the breath are ten times more beneficial than those without breath awareness.”
Have you ever been in a yoga class where the postures were just guided too quickly? It often takes many breaths in a pose for the deep tendons, fascia and muscle fibers to soften, lengthen and let go. So let’s move slowly with deep and deliberate awareness. Our Kripalu yoga methodology is in essence: Breath! Relax! Feel! Watch! and Allow! As we move from doing to being we enter the timeless dimension of yoga.
“The body benefits most when the postures are performed consciously and with full understanding. It takes time to accomplish difficult postures. Avoid forcing the body into them prematurely. Work into them gradually. Otherwise, the body can be harmed.”
The purpose of the asana is yes to open, strengthen and purify the body but that is only superficial. The deeper possibility is opening the prana nadis or energy pathways and to remove energetic blocks that keep us locked in dysfunctional or no longer appropriate mental postures. When the prana is freed and the flows uninhibited we approach the blissful being which is our birth right and natural condition.
We had a great Sunday yoga class today at 3pm. I hope that if you see this you will come join us next Sunday. Some days the practice is perfection! This was one of those days.
We have the next Thai Yoga Massage Level 1 class in January so give me a call if you are interested.
It would be ideal if you scheduled a Thai massage before the class to get to know you, and of practicing yoga helps!!
I’m still learning how to edit this new word press site so if there are any glitches from the user’s end: then please let me know! If anyone knows wordpress please give me a call I do have a few questions and could use some help. THANKS!
Big E-hug to anyone reading……..

Bapuji On Love:
Note: Bapuji means “beloved father” and another name for Swami Kripalvanandaji (Kripalu)
This is the essence of his message of love:
“Truly the wise proclaim that love is the only path, love is the only God, and love is the only scripture.
Impress this verse upon your mind and chant it constantly if you want to realize your deepest dreams. Only love purifies the body and mind. Love is the all-seeing divine eye and the wish-fulfilling touchstone.
As long as people focus on material objects and forget their spiritual development, they’ll remain unfulfilled. Yet it’s important for all of us to become realized as fully divine beings. We must develop our inner being to become love. We may beautify the world as much as we want, but without love it’s like decorating a corpse. To beautify this world, we must carry out experiments in love. Only the science of love can bring unity and remove the separation among all living beings.
Love brings union by healing the split between the body, mind, and heart. United, they merge with the soul just as countless rivers and streams merge into the vast ocean. Without love, light cannot be kindled in our hearts, our homes, or in the world.
The Lord is certainly very clever, for He preserves the nectar of love in the heart of each living being. When someone opens the door of their heart to satisfy another’s thirst for love, then the recipient’s heart also opens. Thus by allowing the other’s love to enter their hearts, they’re both fulfilled.
The only guide on the true path, and the only thing that draws another human being toward love, is God’s ambassador, and that is love itself. The path of love is very ancient. When I was born I received the initiation of love. Now with that same love I initiate everyone else. Countless times I dipped into the world’s highest scriptures and received only love from them.
Love is my only path. In fact, I am a pilgrim on the path of Love”.
Here are some of my favorite teachings. Swami Kripalu said:
“To read uplifting books or listen to spiritual discourses is good. But to practice even a little is of the utmost importance. The profound meaning of yoga is understood only by those who study it through regular and systematic practice. The day you start to practice, your true progress will begin.”
